ABALONE SHELL

Many of the natural Abalone Shells are collected from the Pacific Ocean. With beautiful iridescent colors in shades of blue-green, silver and pink, Abalone Shells are composed primarily of calcium carbonate, which has been deposited in thin overlapping layers. Reflected light from these layers causes the colourful iridescence.

The Abalone Shell beads we sell are made by bonding two pieces of shell back to back before drilling.
