TIGERS EYE

Tiger's Eye or Tigers Eye is a form of Chatoyant Quartz.

Tiger's Eye has a fibrous structure with inclusions of crocidolite (blue asbestos) which have since been dissolved & replaced by iron oxides & quartz to give it the distinctive optical 'cat's eye' effect which is known as chatoyancy, as light is reflected in the interior crystals.

Tiger's Eye is black with iron oxide staining which gives it its distinctive brown & yellow stripes.
It is sourced mainly from Sri Lanka, India, Brazil & South Africa.
